Which Is Better for Weight Loss: Green Tea or Hoodia?

We are inundated with advice on weight loss. Whether you are looking for a diet or weight loss supplement, there is sure to be something new. What you really need to think about when considering a weight loss aid or diet is what your individual weight loss problems are. Will the diet or product work for YOU?

How does green tea work to help people lose weight? It contains EGCG which provides energy, speeds metabolism and fat metabolism and blocks a bit of the starches you consume. It also has the ability to produce a sense of well-being. It contains zero calories, making it an excellent replacement for high calorie beverages.

Hoodia, on the other hand, is an appetite suppressant. It contains a compound called p57 which mimics glucose in the body, fooling the brain into thinking blood glucose levels are normal, or at least, not low. Hunger is triggered by low blood glucose levels. So, hoodia helps you lose weight by suppressing the hunger signal.

Now, you need to think about your particular weight loss issues and decide whether green tea or hoodia will benefit you more.

Green tea tends to benefit those who have a sluggish metabolism. You might have a naturally low metabolism or you may have created a bodily environment that supports a low metabolism. Do you skip meals often? Skipping meals lowers metabolism. Begin eating small portions regularly and drink green tea in between meals to increase metabolism.

Do you need an energy boost so you are more likely to get to the gym? Green tea contains caffeine which will boost your energy levels, but it will not give you the jittery feeling you might get from coffee. Green tea contains L-carnitine, which naturally calms your mood. This might help with controlling emotional eating as well.

One of the biggest benefits of drinking green tea is eliminating high calorie beverages you may drink instead. Most sodas and juices contain at least 100 calories per serving, if not more. Coffee drinks and energy drinks may contain up to 400 calories each or more! Replacing these with green tea might cut 500 or more calories every day. That is a pound a week with little effort!

Now, if you have been consuming a diet high in refined carbohydrates (starches such as pasta and junk foods), you might find more assistance with hoodia. Overtime, your body became accustomed to high amounts of sugar and your brain began triggering hunger at higher than normal blood glucose levels. The end result is feeling hungry more often and craving sweets. Hoodia can help stave off hunger and cravings by acting as glucose and fooling the brain.

The bottom line is weight loss can only occur and last if you change your eating habits and lifestyle choices. Regular exercise coupled with a healthy meal plan will benefit you most.
