How To Simplify Weight Loss

By Vic Shallow

The amount of information out there regarding weight loss is enormous. I think it can be confusing and overwhelming to many people as many of the books and articles seem to contradict each other. The purpose for this article is to clear a few things up and give anyone who is serious about losing weight a workable approach. Losing fat should be simple, I didn't say easy, I said simple. Here are the steps to get started.

1.Decide what you want and why. This is the most important part of any weight loss program. Take the time to write out your goals. Zig Ziglar, an expert on goal setting and one of the nation's most respected motivational speakers, states that only 3% of Americans have written goals. Several recent studies have shown the importance of written goals. It is not enough to have general goals in your head. There is something very powerful about writing them down and reviewing them every day. Make your goals specific. How many pounds do you want to lose? What size clothes do you want to fit in to? What is the timeframe to complete your goals? You get the idea. Be as precise and specific as possible. Let your subconscious mind know exactly what your target is.

2. Find a weight loss program that you're likely to adhere to. Some of the most popular diets are The South Beach, Mediterranean, Weight Watchers, The Zone etc. If you type in "popular diets" to one of the search engines you'll find many. I would stay away from diets that are extreme. Any program should include fresh fruits and vegetables. Choose a nutrition program that fits your personal preferences. The key is to take in less calories than you burn. Two programs that I highly recommend are "Fat Loss Revealed" by Will Brink and "Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle" by Tom Venuto. Both are e-book programs. A great feature of Fat Loss Revealed is the members only website that you get access to. You'll have meal plans, exercise videos, and personal trainers available to you. If you're interested, I've included a link at the bottom of the page. Most importantly find a program that you can stick to.

3. For permanent fat loss and a healthy body, exercise is essential. I know this isn't what a lot of people want to hear but the fact is, taking weight off and keeping it off requires regular exercise. A good fitness program should include aerobic and resistance training at least three days a week to maintain muscle while losing fat. It is very important to maintain muscle while losing fat as muscle is the main body component responsible for burning fat. Less muscle means less ability to burn fat and lower metabolism.

4. Measure your results at least once a week and make the necessary adjustments. 1 to 2lbs of fat loss per week is a good goal. Much more than that and you're losing muscle. Less than that and you're not seeing results and will have a hard time sticking to the plan. The best way to measure results is with skin fold measurements. If you belong to a gym ask one of the trainers to help you. If not , the Fat Loss Revealed program I mentioned gives you access to a trainer who will be happy to help. The entire program is a one time fee of $39 and it includes everything you'll need.. You can also use your bathroom scale or just notice how your clothes are fitting. If you're not seeing results eat less and exercise more. I know that sounds overly simplistic but that really is what it comes down to.

It really is as simple as using more fuel than than you take in. The hard part is staying with it. Instead of thinking of this as a limited time diet, why not make the changes habits for life? Losing weight and getting fit isn't just about looking better although it 's great when your friends start to notice. It's also about having more energy and being healthier for the long term.

The most important step is the first one. Decide what you want, write out your goals, and get started! - 33373
